South Carolina Republican Primary Exit Poll
96% white.

I mean, I kinda figured it would be high. But...

96%!

In the last census South Carolina is 68% white, and 29% black (and 3% polka-dot).

We won't get to do the direct comparison for another week because their SC primary is on the 26th. The news reports suggest as much as half the voters may be African American.

Has anyone gotten a handle on the voter participation rates in these primaries?

I was looking at the raw vote numbers in South Carolina, and they struck me as really, really low.

You are RIGHT. In fact McCain won with half the votes as last time. Two reasons:

1) People are sad to be republican these days.
2) It SNOWED yesterday. Lots of these people thought God was sending them a sign not to vote.
